Earlier this week, Jake Waite stepped down from his position as president of Calvert Controls to pursue other opportunities. Marianne Bell, who had served as Vice President of Operations, has been promoted to General Manager and has assumed leadership of the company moving forward.
Below is the text of her message to the team …
Team Calvert –
As I write this and reflect on this past week, I find myself overcome with a magnitude of different emotions. A lot of transformation has occurred over the last few years and just as we begin to catch our breath, we find ourselves pivoting yet again. Change can be terrifying; but it can also be invigorating, exhilarating, and electrifying. It’s also inevitable. That said, how we choose to respond to it is our choice, and our choice alone.
Jake provided me with an opportunity to join Calvert Controls just as he did every one of you. He believed in me, entrusted me, and this past Monday he handed me the torch as he stepped away to pursue other opportunities. While it came with a heavy heart, it was welcomed and accepted. My promise to him was to give the company the best version of myself possible and to take care of what mattered the most to him, the people & their families. The team. The heart of Calvert Controls.
My promise to you all is to do just that.
Everyone has a passion for something in life. Mine is people. It’s getting out of bed every morning and going to work with some of the most amazing individuals I’ve ever met. It’s seeing things in them that they don’t see in themselves. It’s believing in them when they form doubt. It’s pushing them to be a better version of themselves because I know they have it in them. My blue flame is working beside every single one of you.
It is for this reason that I want to focus on building the company and doing so in an operationally excellent way. This is imperative for several reasons; growth will help Calvert Controls attract other phenomenal employees and be able to provide each of you even more career development opportunities. It is also with operational excellence that we can best deliver for our customers. Teams that win repeatedly do so with structure, with roles people are passionate about, and with clear planning and sound execution. Winning also becomes contagious, and I believe we have the DNA, the culture, and the grind to put our best foot forward every day for our team, our customers, and for ourselves
As we continue down this pathway in 2023, my ask is that we do our best to “keep Calvert Controls together.” To have each other’s backs. To support one another. To trust the team, and ultimately, to trust the process.
Rob Stuckey, who has been a valued friend of mine for the last 20 years, sent me this quote Monday evening as I concluded my first day as Calvert’s new General Manager. It lit a fire in my soul, and my optimism is that with sharing it here, it does the same for some of you.
“Give yourself permission to live a big life. Step into who you are meant to be. Stop playing small. You’re meant for greater things.”
I look forward to working with every one of you and please know I am available at any time for your concerns, suggestions, and questions. I would love to hear from you all.
Regards,
Marianne Bell
General Manager
